His Excellency, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma on an official visit to Brussels, Monday to Tuesday, 30th and 31st October, 2017 addressed his countrymen. Thanking Sierra Leoneans living abroad for their support to Sierra Leone and to bid them farewell as his second presidential term comes to an end. At this point, Mr. Abubakarr Bangura, a CD4D participant and a pioneer actor of in the Sierra Leonean diaspora community in the Netherlands, was invited to give thanks to the President – to which he felt honoured.

In 2008, Sierra Leone’s Office of Diaspora Affairs was established by President Koroma “to engage and encourage Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora to contribute positively into national development; with a view to enhance a win-win situation between them, the Government of Sierra Leone and by extension the people of Sierra Leone”. His Excellency hopes that his future successor will continue his efforts to engage Sierra Leoneans abroad, as well as, his broader agenda.
