January Update

You are here: Home / ED4D / January Update

18 February, 2019

This month we share updates regarding our participants, Sierra Leone and the ED4D Kick-Off Events.

Number of assignments

For the month of January, four CD4D participants started their assignments. One went to Sierra Leone, one to Somaliland and two to Ethiopia.  We also welcomed back eight of our participants, of whom four are from Somalia, two from Sierra Leone and two from Ethiopia.

Passport Story Abdul Babokry

Abdul Babokry is an Afghan-Dutch expert in Monitoring and Evaluation processes. After living, working and studying in the Netherlands for 25 years, he decided to contribute to his motherland of Afghanistan to aid in the Ministry of Rehabilitation and Rural Development in Kabul. Here he trained over 40 professionals of the Ministry in the areas of project management, process monitoring and quality control and reporting. Click here to discover his passport story.

Computer Donations and Study Visit to Sierra Leone

With the help of IOM and AENC, the Dutch-Sierra Leonean AbuBakarr Bangura was able to co-distribute various IT hardware to three CD4D educational institutions. Moreover, he assisted in arranging a study visit of a Dutch expert on Sustainable Development Goals to provide lectures at CD4D institutions. To read more about the story, click here.

ED4D Kick Off Events for Ethiopia and Ghana at the Humanity Hub

IOM’s and PUM’s Entrepreneurship by Diaspora for Development (ED4D) project for Ethiopia and Ghana kicked-off this month. Both events were well-attended by potential candidates who were eager to learn about the support they can receive from the project and the overall business climate in their country of origin. Click here to read more about the Ethiopia event, and here for the Ghana event.
