IOM Netherlands and IOM Afghanistan hosted a teleconference on October 8th.
Two important Afghan diaspora organizations: KEIHAN Foundation and MCAN were present, as well as, the main Afghan stakeholders involved in the CD4D project such as the Kabul Medical University, the Khair Khwa Medical Complex, the Ministry of Public Health, the Sardar Daud Khan Hospital and representatives from the Afghan Ministry of Labour and Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The aim of the meeting was to push forward diaspora engagement and to further discuss the institutions’ terms of reference. Concern about the duration of the assignments were voiced by the diaspora which the institutions will take into consideration for the future. CD4D are also looking into creating more online knowledge transfers as a form of follow-up on physical assignments and to compensate the shortness of the diaspora’s stay.
The teleconference was also an opportunity for the diaspora and institutions to explore new linkages for further cooperation.
