Helaas hebben wij afgelopen week moeten vernemen dat Aziz Arrouchdi is overleden. Aziz was een deelnemer van het eerste uur voor TRQN en CD4D in Marokko. Wij zijn dankbaar dat we hem hebben mogen leren kennen. Wij hebben gezien welke impact hij heeft gemaakt in de vele jonge levens waar hij mee in aanraking is geweest in Tanger en Laarache.
Het jongerencentrum Assadaqa in Tanger was Aziz’ laatste levenswerk, waarvoor hij zich met volle overgave heeft ingezet. Deze laatste opdracht heeft hem ook weer nader tot zijn oorspronkelijke wortels in Marokko gebracht. Aziz zal ons altijd bij blijven als een van onze ‘diaspora heroes’.

As you pay your water bill, think of others who drink the clouds’ rain.
As you return home, your home, think of others. Don’t forget those who live in tents.
As you sleep and count planets, think of others. There are people without any shelter to sleep.
As you express yourself using all metaphorical expressions, think of others who lost their rights to speak.
As you think of others who are distant, think of yourself and say ‘I wish I was a candle to fade away the darkness’.
Na een lange tocht over vier continenten is Aziz aan het einde van zijn reis gekomen.
Zijn empathisch vermogen, authentieke aandacht voor anderen en vertrouwen in de
autonome kracht van mensen, en vooral jongeren, om bij te dragen aan een betere
wereld blijven dicht bij ons ter inspiratie en voorbeeld.
Après un long voyage sur quatre continents, Aziz est venu à la fin de son périple. Sa
capacité empathique, son attention authentique envers les autres et sa confiance dans le
pouvoir autonome des gens, et surtout des jeunes, pour contribuer à un monde meilleur
restent près de nous comme inspiration et exemple.
After a long voyage across four continents Aziz came to the end of his journey. His
empathy, authentic attention to others and trust in the autonomous power of people,
especially of young people, to contribute to a better world stay close to us for inspiration
and as an example.
