Walia, a traditional Ethiopian restaurant in Breda was to host a networking event for Ethiopian diaspora in coordination with IOM and Ms. Debritu Mogesse on July 1st.
Ms. Mogesse is a former TRQN participant (CD4D’s predecessing project). Representing brands such as Moyee Coffee and Habesha beer, she is a well connected Ethiopian businesswoman.
The event gave the opportunity for Ethiopian diaspora living all over the Netherlands to meet, but not exclusively as it also attracted diaspora living in Belgium. There they shared injera, a typical Ethiopian dish and learned more about IOM Netherlands and the opportunities that the CD4D project offers for diaspora to contribute to their place of origin.
With thirty-eight people attending, the turn-out and response to the event was successful and resulted in fifty-seven professionals wanting to be connected to the project.
