IOM started its activities in the Netherlands in 1991. Our main scope of work consists of:
Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration
We assist migrants who wish to return voluntarily to their country of origin and support their sustainable reintegration (for eligible nationalities). Assistance consists of information and counselling services, procuring travel documents, arranging safe travel, and providing reintegration support. We are in favour of reintegration assistance, based on human dignity and as a major sustainability factor in countries of origin.
Through our network of offices around the world, we can offer individual in-kind reintegration support, such as setting up income-generating activities or financing educational or training programmes. Tailored assistance is provided to specific vulnerable groups, including migrants with health issues, victims of trafficking, unaccompanied minors, families or single parents with underage children, and undocumented migrants.

Labour Mobility and Human Development (LHD/Resettlement)
The LHD/Resettlement unit aims to maximize the positive impacts of migration for migrants, their families and the broader community in countries of origin and destination. This includes assisting migrants travelling to the Netherlands, as well as their integration into new communities; strengthening links between migration and development (particularly through diaspora engagement in development initiatives); and enhancing partnerships and cooperation between countries of origin and destination to facilitate labour and skills mobility.
The CD4D2 and ED4D projects are implemented under this unit.
