Diaspora Experts Excel in Sharing Their Experiences

Interview with Abdilahi Samadon Omer, Director of Planning, Somaliland

You are here: Home / Host Institutions / Diaspora Experts Excel in Sharing Their Experiences

3 February, 2021

Host Institution: Ministry of Transport and Road Development, Hargeisa, Somaliland
Abdilahi Samadon Omer, Director of Planning,

“The Ministry is responsible for our national transport, which comprises three key targeted areas for future infrastructure investments: land, sea, and air transport. To achieve these investments the Ministry required high-level external diaspora experts via CD4D2.

“Diaspora Experts excel in Sharing their Experiences”

We aim to have high-level staff that can produce and achieve a lot and that provides good public services to the population of Somaliland. To do this staff received training specifically on Customer Care, Traffic Law, Strategy Management, Human Resource Management and Office Management System. De diaspora experts assigned to us trained staff in these topics.

By involving experts from the diaspora there are no language barriers. All CD4D2 experts are people with a Somali background with a high motivation to transfer their knowledge and skills. They excel in sharing their experiences in different fields and how to solve work problems we are facing.”

The Somaliland Ministry of Transport and Road Development formulates policies, regulates, monitors and evaluates the transport sector. This sector is a cluster of priority sectors comprising roads, railway, water, and air transport.
