PUM has a large pool of senior experts wishing to share their knowledge and experience with entrepreneurs in developing countries and emerging markets. This is why the mentoring part has been included in this program. Although the expertise to share and the advice to give will be a process taking place in the Netherlands, it could lead to potential travel in the future once the business has been established in Ghana or Ethiopia.
Every participant has been matched with a PUM mentor:
Mentoring is a process for the informal transmission of knowledge, social capital and the psychosocial support perceived by the recipient as relevant to work, career, or professional development; mentoring entails informal communication, usually face-to-face and during a sustained period of time, between a person who is perceived to have greater relevant knowledge, wisdom, or experience (the mentor) and a person who is perceived to have less (the mentee).
The mentors will help refine the business plans of the ED4D participants by end of January 2020 after which a final selection of 10 participants per country will take place
