This month we share updates regarding our participants, conference, appreciations and the CD4D team.
Number of assignments
This month, seven of our participants returned to the Netherlands; one from Afghanistan, four from Somalia, and two from Sierra Leone. Three participants started their assignments, of whom two went to Somalia and one to Afghanistan.
Meet the Community: Samuel Yenesew
Samuel Yenesew is keen on tackling youth unemployment in his native Ethiopia. After he gained experience and academic degrees in the business sector in the Netherlands, he was motivated to transfer his knowledge and skills to his country of origin. With the help of the CD4D project, he was able to contribute especially his entrepreneurship skills.

Monitoring Trip to Sierra Leone
Adri Zagers and Kardelen Akkus conducted a monitoring trip to Sierra Leone, a CD4D target country. They talked to representatives of our host institutions about the project’s progress and challenges. They also attended a 2-day conference named ‘Sierra Leone Diaspora Agribusiness Investor Forum’ and learnt about various investment opportunities.
Adept Webinar
On 27 September, the Project Coordinator Adri Zagers hosted a webinar for ADEPT. ADEPT’s mission is to ‘improve and enhance the capacity and impact of the African diaspora organisations that are involved in development activities in Africa’. Those who attended the webinar learnt about the Connecting Diaspora for Development program and future opportunities. The webinar is now available on Youtube and can be watched here.
