Medical Committee Afghanistan Netherlands (MCAN) seeks to contribute to the improvement of easily accessible and quality healthcare services in Afghanistan. To achieve this, MCAN aims to engage Afghan and Dutch health professionals residing in the Netherlands to share their knowledge, skills and experience with the medical staff and students of Kabul Medical University.
On June 26, 2017 MCAN organized a benefit diner. The event was hosted with the aim of collecting money for MCAN’s medical projects that will benefit the Afghan healthcare sector and its medical professionals. The benefit dinner was a great success. Floortje Dessing whom was a guest showed interest in collaborating with the organization in the future. What’s more, MCAN collected a total of € 10,062.19.
Due to this huge success, it is expected that MCAN will continue into the second phase of the Up-to Date project. An initiative which aims to share the latest literature in the area of health with the medical staff and students of Kabul Medical University (KMU) and that works in close cooperation with IOM Connecting Diaspora for Development project (CD4D).
In the framework of the CD4D project MCAN successfully finalized the 1st phase of Up-to Date project. Over 800 medical staff and students of KMU benefited from the project.
IOM aims to continue its cooperation with MCAN in the framework of the CD4D project and further assist it in strengthening its professional links with KMU and other Afghan health institutions.
